If traveling for business is a new thing for you, it can be hard to know what to pack. In fact, even if you are a seasoned business tripper, it can be tough. You need to look smart and professional, but you’ll also want to feel comfortable and be appropriately dressed for the weather. You need to think about the culture and expectations of your host country and take everything that you could need for any downtime that you might have while you are away from home. To top it all, you’ll probably want to fit everything into your carry-on luggage so that you don’t need to waste time checking bags. Here’s a look at some of the things that you don’t want to forget.
A Smart Suit
Fashions are different all over the world. But, a smart business suit is always a smart suit. Whether you are traveling for big meetings, meeting new clients or for a networking event, it’s always a good idea to pack a smart suit so that you are ready to wow. It can also help you to feel in the right mood to work, which can be difficult when you are out of the office and your usual routine.
Workout Clothes
If you are traveling for longer than a day or two, you might want to pack your running shoes and some activewear. Traveling for business is very different from traveling for pleasure. While you may be staying in a gorgeous location such as the Courtyard Leon at The Poliforum, you can still feel all of the usual stresses of work, but without any of your normal stress relief tools. Most large hotels around the world have gyms or pools, and even if yours doesn’t, you can go for a run. This can help you to switch off at the end of the day, giving you a chance to enjoy some of your trip when you’re not busy with work.
Light Layers
Climate has to be a huge consideration whenever we travel. It’s what we base our packing on. This is no different when you travel for business. But, you can’t sit around a conference table wearing your bikini or maxi dress. You can also never be sure of how warm these rooms might be, as many in hotter countries will be well air-conditioned. Pack light layers, such as a thin cotton jumper or jacket, to give yourself options.
A Lightweight Laptop
Tablets and smartphones are great nowadays, letting you do most things that a laptop can. But, if you are going to be typing and taking notes, a full keyboard can make it much easier. You’ll also be able to video call the office back home and chill out with Netflix when you get back to your hotel.
All the Essentials
Think about what you’d pack for a holiday. You’ll still need toiletries, chargers, your camera, accessories, sunscreen, medication, booking documents, your passport, car hire details and anything else that you think you may need while you are away. Especially if it’s a long trip. Write a list so that you don’t forget anything, but remember to check airport security regulations first.

Layers are a must wherever you go…and I like to make up my list at least a week ahead of time and then look it over everyday before I leave. I always realize that there was something I forgot to write down!😉
