Wedding Planning Update
It’s now been a couple of months since our engagement, so I thought I would check in with you all to tell you how it’s going! So far, so good. We have most of our vendors booked already. Anyone who knows me knows I am a VERY organized person and I LOVE checking off a to-do list, so wedding planning has been quite fun. I would say finding a caterer was the only stressful part because there are so many and we had such trouble finding the one for us. We came across a company in Connecticut called G Seven Catering, went to a tasting and fell in love. We hired them on the spot! As far as our bar goes, we hired Drinks with Jack which is the CUTEST Connecticut mobile bar. If you’re looking to add a bar to any event, I HIGHLY recommend their services.
Save The Dates
We wanted to get our save the dates out a little early because we are getting married on Columbus Day Weekend and wanted to give people enough of a heads up. I have never ever bought stationary, cards, invites or anything like that online. I had no idea what I was doing but thankfully came across Minted. They have SO many designs (I mean thousands) created by independent artists all over the world. The artist will submit their work, everyone then gets to vote on the artwork and then Minted will sell the winners! This is such a great way to support artists and get their name out there.
“We believe that great design lives and thrives in the hands of independent artists that people do not have access to through traditional retailers. Minted uses technology to allow consumers to discover great creative talent, making Minted a place where artists can learn, gain exposure, and build their businesses.” – Minted.com
They offer so many different products from wall murals, to bags & accessories. It’s a great place to find gifts for others or even a new addition for your home. For me- they offered easy to create save the dates. The only issue I had was picking which design I loved most. I am a minimalist and I’m not a huge girly girl (I hate sparkle and bright colors), so I wanted to find the best design to fit my style and fit in with my rustic wedding theme. SPOILER ALERT: The save the dates may give away our wedding colors! Just kidding, they definitely do… Anyway, I found this plaid design which I instantly fell in love with and then on top of that I noticed I could make the plaid design a sage green color which is the color of my bridesmaid dresses (so I think)! It was a no-brainer. I decided to choose a black and white photo of Chris and I from our engagement shoot because I wanted to green to pop on the front. The back however, we added a couple of our foliage shots along with a couple details and our wedding website link. The other cool thing about Minted is that you can choose to add the name of the designer on the bottom of the back side, which we chose to do. You all know I love helping and supporting small businesses so I was so excited to see that option.
Ok, onto my favorite part. Chris and I are having a large wedding (honestly it’s mostly all family because we just both have huge families) so the last thing I want to do it sit there and write addresses on all of the envelopes after a long day of work. Minted offers addressing for all of your envelopes (see them here–> Minted Envelope )! You just fill out a template with all of the names and addresses, which I already had from our guest list and upload it to your account. There are so many fonts and designs to choose from and all you have to do when you receive your save the dates are stuff the envelopes! I can’t tell you how much time that will save me.
I am excited to design invitations next. Minted already has all of the addresses saved in my account so it will be such an easy process for the invitations and reply cards. This weekend I get to have brunch with all of my bridal party and then go bridesmaid dress shopping! Follow along on Instagram to see behind the scenes. I hope you guys have a Happy New Year and let’s make 2020 the best year yet!
