Well… The day has come… I’M ENGAGED! For years and years throughout my early 20s, I spent my time working on myself and trying to make sure I fully enjoyed time by myself before I got into a relationship. I was single for 5 years while on and off dating, but the second I didn’t feel a long term connection with someone, I ended it. I knew exactly what I wanted and that is why I give everyone the advice to be patient and don’t settle for less than you deserve.

I met Chris in 2016. My sister used to work with him and told me what a great guy he was and that he was very close to his family just like I am. That was good enough for me to give him a try! Our first date was about 10 hours (not exaggerating) and we literally laughed the entire time. If you know Chris and I, you know we both are goofballs and try to bring humor almost everywhere. I knew he was the one after the first date, not to be so corny and predictable. I had never felt a connection like I did with Chris and I have never felt so comfortable and safe.

The Proposal

I’d say the question I’ve been asked most often is “did you know it was coming!?”… The answer is, eh. As most of you know, I’m a very anxious person. So I can’t lie and say I haven’t been suspicious over the past few months. Anything we did out of the ordinary, a part of me thought it could happen. But the answer I guess would be no I didn’t know in that exact moment it was about to happen!

Chris asked if I wanted him to go take blog pictures for me (which was the only reason I was suspicious because I usually have to ask him haha). So we went around and took some photos and then went to our last location which was the Saville Dam in Barkhamsted, CT and was the place that changed my life forever! After taking my blog photos, I was scrolling through my phone at the photos to make sure we got a good one before we left and that’s when I heard “Jenna”. I turned around and he grabbed my hands and got down on one knee and said some sweet words and of course asked the question! Honestly I was so blacked out I don’t even remember anything except that I have the worst crying face. Chris and I both shed some tears (sorry for calling you out Chris) and I then realized there was a hidden photographer the whole time!

The best part is that the photographer was so sweet and offered her services for a little while longer. Chris and I figured we might as well get out engagement photos out of the way while there are still beautiful leaves on the trees and beautiful weather! Also worked out that I was already done up for my blog photos (great planning Chris!). My dream has always been a Fall proposal and while I wanted to marry him so bad, I’m so glad he waited until the right time. Patience really is a virtue.

Thank you Chris for such a special day. You really do make me the happiest girl in the world. I can always count on you for a laugh, for great advice and for unconditional love. I love you more than anything in this world ( well, you are tied with Oscar 😉 ). I cannot wait to be your wife and spend forever making the best memories.
