Transitioning to Fall| OOTD

Is anybody else ready for Fall weather!? I know I am. This back and forth between 80 degrees and 60 degrees keeps getting me sick…Thank you New England.

Anyway, I was shopping for Fall and thinking about what staple pieces I can buy for the transitioning weather. I found this skort. YES, a skort! I don’t think I’ve worn one since I was maybe 10. I forgot how comfortable they were!

I can’t wait to bring out the Fall clothes and update my closet. Here’s what I’ve got so far:

Meet My Dachshund- Oscar

Meet My Dachshund- Oscar

DISCLAIMER: This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of The J.M. Smucker Company. The opinions and text are all mine.

Hello everyone,

I’m excited to bring you another lifestyle post today. This one is important to me because it’s involving the love of my life (sorry Chris).

Today, I wanted to bring Oscar onto the blog. I’ve definitely mentioned him before, because he is so special to me! To any other dog parents out there, you know the feeling of coming home everyday to a bunch of kisses, and waking up to kisses, and eating with kisses too. Let’s just say, there’s no better unconditional love than my dog.

I’ve had Oscar for 6 years now. 6 YEARS! Time flies. Oscar and I are definitely a package deal with anyone who comes into our life.

Oscar is a mini long-haired dachshund with a lot of love to give. He loves chasing tennis balls, licking feet (gross), and of course eating treats.

IMG_4829

I used to have to go to the Walmart so often to replenish his treats. Pup-Peroni is definitely his favorite. Now that they make 38oz bags, it saves me so much time from having to make an extra trip! FYI, Pup-Peroni is available at Walmart in the pet aisle, or it can be found online: CLICK HERE.

Oscar loves all of the flavors, but you can never go wrong with the original beef flavor.

Some of the things I like about Pup-Peroni is:

  • Real meat like beef, steak, bacon, etc. is the #1 ingredient
  • Real meaty goodness
  • Mouth-watering beef
  • Mouth-watering steak
  • Made with real Angus steak

I love to give Oscar a treat after a trip to the park. He’s awesome because he doesn’t even need a leash. He always stays right by my feet (unless he’s going to fetch the tennis ball, of course). Woof yeah!

Praising your dog is the best thing you can do, and what better way to do it than giving them a Pup-Peroni! Right when we get home from the park he runs over to the walk in pantry, because he knows!

Anyone who knows me, usually knows Oscar too. He’s my desktop background at work, he’s the wallpaper on my phone, and he’s my cuddle buddy at all points of the day. Unless he’s cuddling my boyfriend, because I swear he loves my boyfriend just as much as he loves me.

Oscar is so special to me because he has really gotten me through some rough times. I had a long two years where everything kept going wrong. I had a few loved ones pass away, including my Dad which, of course, hit me the hardest. I can’t tell you what Oscar did for my depression after that. To be honest, without Oscar, I don’t even know where I’d be today. I know it might sound silly to some of you, but to those of you who know the feeling, you know how important it is to have that.

Oscar also has a ton of cousins! My brother has a Rottweiler/Lab mix, my other brother has two German Shepherds, and my sister has a Lab and a Chihuahua/Terrier mix! Pup-Peroni is in all of our homes so we can train our dogs to be respectful and listen well. I wish you could see how cute they all are when they are together. Oscar loves to pretend he’s a big dog, even though we all know he’s the size of the other dogs’ legs.

Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed this post. Who else loves dogs? And who else has a dachshund? They are definitely an awesome breed.

Talk to you soon!

25 Lessons Learned in 25 Years

25 Lessons Learned in 25 Years

Hi all,

I asked on Twitter if I should write a ‘life lessons’ post, and a lot of you said yes! So here it is! These are things I have learned throughout the years and things that could benefit you from hearing as well. Let me know your top life lesson!

  1. Accept Your Mistakes – We all make them, we need to accept it. Taking responsibility  is the best way to make it better.
  2. Find Your Passion– Take time experimenting and trying new things. You’ll come across something you love. That’s going to be a good contribution to your happiness.
  3. Be Yourself– Finding out who you are is the most important. I recommend getting out of your comfort zone, maybe living in a new place. Or living on your own. It gives you a chance to figure out who you are or who you want to be.
  4. Move On– You are going to have friendships or relationships that don’t work out. It’s important that you find a way to move on and not let it hold you back. Accept that people change and we all move at different paces. Don’t let them slow you down.
  5. Work-Life Balance– This is something I’ve always struggled with. I’ve always been a workaholic. I have a really hard time balancing work, my blog, and my social life. It’s important to find a balance.
  6. Learn Your Priorities– Bouncing off of the last one, learn your priorities. This will help you find a balance and figure out what’s most important to you. Make time for that.
  7. Be Open To Change– Your teens and 20’s are usually when a lot of change happens for you. School, College, Work, Friends, etc. Be open to change and just know everything will work out the way it’s supposed to.
  8. Curiosity Killed The Cat– Don’t focus so much on what’s going on with other people. Just be you and focus on yourself, and everything else will fall into place. If something happens, you can react to it. But you don’t need to dig for something.
  9. Be There For One Another– You never know what someone is going through, and it’s important to be there for others. Almost like the show 13 Reasons Why, you just never know what can change someone’s life.
  10. Support Each Other– This almost bounces off of the last one. It’s so important to support each other. I have so many friends that have not shared my posts, and I also probably have friends who never even read my blog. It’s important to find people in your life who will support you, and make sure you support them to.
  11. Relationships Are a Two Way Street– This goes for relationships, friendships, or even acquaintances. You should not be putting in all of the effort. If that’s the case, it’s time to go back to Step 4 and move on! You don’t have to completely move on and end it, but just back away and give someone who gives you the effort more of your time. They deserve it!
  12. Don’t Make a Permanent Decision on Temporary Feelings– If you’re really upset, do not make a decision right away. Take some time until you calm down and figure it out, and come back to it.
  13. No Regrets– You can spend so much time regretting things or you can realize that you can’t change the past, but you can work on the future. Spend time learning from your mistakes.
  14. Learn How To Budget– Wow I wish I knew this. I mean I always ‘knew’ how…but that doesn’t mean I did it. I’m not saying don’t spend money on experiences and everything. But learn how to put something away in a savings so if something happens down the road, you have something to fall back on.
  15. Travel– So this is something you should spend money on! Get out there while you can. I can’t describe the feeling I get after going to a new place. So motivational.
  16. Find People Who Share Your Interests– It’s a great thing when you find people who love the same hobby as you do. For me, it’s fashion. Stick around others who are motivated and it will help keep you going. If you’re spending time around people who aren’t motivated as the same rate as you are, it could hold you back. Again, don’t cut them out, just split your time the right way.
  17. Spend Time On Yourself– For a long time I was so focused on constantly being busy, having fun with people and working. I didn’t realize how important it was to spend time alone. It helped me become independent and take care of myself.
  18. Do What You Want– Don’t let anyone tell you that you shouldn’t go after your dream or you shouldn’t do something just because they wouldn’t. We’re all different and that’s what creates successes. Go for it!
  19. Give People Chances, But Not Too Many– People do deserve second chances. I’m a firm believer in that. However, how many chances should you give? To me, once someone repeats a mistake, it becomes a choice. Up to your discretion of course.
  20. Relationships Are About Making Sacrifices– You’re going to have to learn how to make sacrifices for others. Also, there will be times where people make sacrifices for you.
  21. Not Everyone Needs Your Advice– This is a big one for me. I love to be Dr. Phil. Probably because I spend a lot of nights on Pinterest under the ‘Quotes’ section, haha. Sometimes we just need to listen without giving out input. This will be my resolution starting now. 😉
  22. Accept Your Flaws– Yes, I thought of this after just writing my own. But it is important to know what your flaws are. That’s the first step to working on them. Everyone has them throughout their life. Life is just us constantly growing as a person.
  23. You’re Going to Learn a Lot More– This is not it. There’s a lot more to learn out there. Listen to people, ask questions, and take notes. It’s good to hear things from other people to get their perspective. It helps to open up the mind.
  24. Be Humble and Kind– This is probably my favorite one. Some people are just so miserable and rude. Again, I get it that people can be going through stuff and cope in their own ways. But that’s not okay to treat people poorly who do not deserve it. (This is the customer service side of me typing). Also, I love that song by Tim McGraw.
  25. Keep Pushing, Don’t Give Up!– Keep going. You can do anything you set your mind to as long as you have the passion for it. Ask for help when you need it, learn from other’s who are doing the same thing, and don’t be afraid of failure.

Well, these are some of the lessons that I wish I could have taught myself over the years. What are some of your favorite lessons that you wish you told your younger self? I’m curious to hear more! Let me know in the comments or on any of my social media –> @jennaleeannllc

Talk to you all soon!

Suede & Sneakers

Suede & Sneakers

Hello comfortable and trendy. This is another one of the top trends this season. It’s all about dressing your outfit to the athletic aesthetic. I could’ve easily dressed this dress up with some heels and a great clutch, but I decided to go a different route.

I definitely suggest finding a great basic shift dress to pair with sneakers, because it’s the easiest way to look like you tried, when in reality, you threw it on and ran out the door (my life).

I Was Hit By a Truck!?

So, a couple of years ago I had finally bought the car I’ve wanted for years. YAY! However, during my move to Nashville, I was hit by a truck and my car was totaled… Because it was a hit and run, and I had just gotten my new car, all of the money I got from insurance went to paying off my car. Lucky me. Thank god me, my mom and my dog were okay!

13882552_2675093471604_1753339326594806036_n

So here I am in a new city, with no car. And Nashville is no New York City… You can’t just walk everywhere. I was starting my new role at Nordstrom and had to find a car quick!

When www.cars.com reached out to me for a partnership on the blog, I was a little hesitant because what do cars have to do with fashion!? Then I looked at it as a lifestyle post and thought of it as a way to share with you one of the worst experiences I’ve been through. And the fact that they helped me get through a hard time was awesome.

I haven’t really gotten too personal on the blog, but I’m starting to meet more and more people on here, and really want to open up to you all!

www.cars.com was my first resource when this all happened. I had heard about it from a couple of friends/family members. The experience I had was seamless in helping me learn all about what car to get. I wanted something inexpensive, but reliable.

Their site is SO easy to navigate through and gives you so many options that are easy to read and understand. I’m not the most knowledgable when it comes to cars, so I wanted a site that would explain to me what exactly I should be looking for.

You can buy, sell & trade, and even repair through this site! If you’re looking to do any of these, I highly recommend taking a look at www.cars.com .

Now it’s been a couple of years and I’m at the point where I have to think about if I want to keep my car or get a new one! What is your favorite car? Leave me some suggestions. 🙂

Let me know if you would like more of these lifestyle posts/personal stories.

DISCLAIMER: This post was sponsored by www.cars.com, however, all thoughts are my own.

OOTD| Button Down

OOTD| Button Down

One of the top trends this season are the menswear inspired looks. Also a lot of looks have been styled with half of the shirt tucked in.

FASHION HACK: I recently learned at a meeting that if you tuck in the side with buttons, the un-tucked side will lay flat!

Anyway, here’s how I styled my ‘menswear inspired’ look for summer.
